In order to take advantage of Idaho’s 3,100 miles of river, adventure travel company O.A.R.S. is offering multiple-day wilderness vacations that concentrate on the Salmon and Snake rivers.
The company offers all-inclusive three- to seven-day river and hiking adventures through the Gorges of the Lower Salmon out of Lewiston, Idaho, as well as over a dozen launches with family-friendly discounts of up to 15 percent off regular rates. In addition, there are multiple-day instructional programs available that are dedicated to stand-up paddleboarding, whitewater kayaking, hiking and specialized programs.
Of special note for this summer are three new programs with Whole Journeys (a Whole Foods Market Company), that feature an epicurean spin on active adventure. One such program is a seven-day itinerary along Idaho’s Main Salmon River with six days of rafting on free-flowing Class III whitewater, one night in Boise and five nights of catered camping on beaches complete with chef-prepared meals.
Programs range in difficulty from adrenaline-packed rapids (up to Class IV) to more family-friendly options of Class II to III rapids, appropriate for children as young as age 7.
