The annual Future Leaders in Travel Retreat, powered by TravelAge West, is going international for the first time in its four-year history.
The event — dedicated to moving the travel industry forward by connecting the next generation of buyers and sellers — will take place this year at the Hilton Playa del Carmen in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, from Aug. 29 to Sept. 1.
"Playa Hotels & Resorts has been a long-time partner of Northstar Travel Group,” said Alicia Evanko-Lewis, executive vice president of travel group global events for Northstar Travel Group, in a press release. “When we outgrew our previous host hotel, it was a natural fit to move the event to a Playa property. We’re looking forward to bringing Future Leaders to the Hilton Playa del Carmen.”
With a focus on emerging talent, the Future Leaders in Travel Retreat brings together industry professionals between the ages of 22 and 37 — both suppliers and advisors. The fully hosted travel advisors are selected through an application process that requires them to demonstrate their personal brand, share thoughts on the current state of the industry and provide professional references.

“Playa Hotels & Resorts is fitting as a host because our strategic goals align with those of these young advisor attendees,” said Andrea Wright, vice president of travel industry sales at Playa Hotels & Resorts, in a press release. “We are both leaders in our spaces and strive to provide unique and incredible experiences for our clients. We’re excited for the opportunity to showcase not only the Hilton Playa del Carmen, but our newest boutique resort, The Yucatan Playa del Carmen.”
