Travel Impressions’ final (and 25th) Best of the Best event was held at Secrets Bahia Mita Surf & Spa Resort and Dreams Bahia Mita Surf & Spa Resort in Punta Mita from Nov. 18-21.
The event’s silver anniversary edition was a cause for celebration, following Hyatt’s acquisition of Apple Leisure Group (ALG), which is the parent company of Travel Impressions.
The extended weekend’s theme was, appropriately enough, “Evolving. Expanding. Exploring. Together.” Qualifying travel agents in attendance produced at least $750,000 in sales with Travel Impressions.
Jon Dorenbos, a motivational keynote speaker, former football player and magician, addressed the audience in an evening session. In addition to performing impossible-to-figure-out card tricks, Dorenbos shared the inspirational story of how he overcame horrendous circumstances to move on with a full and successful life. It put the pandemic and all the industry has gone through in perspective.
On Saturday, under idyllic conditions along Mexico’s west coast, attendees were briefed on Travel Impressions’ future plans.
During one of the breakout sessions, Scott Wiseman, former Travel Impressions president and current ALG Vacations (ALGV) senior vice president and general manager, travel advisor brands, discussed ALGV’s new Elite program, which will reward agents for their overall ALGV success.
Next year’s Elite levels are Sapphire, Emerald, Diamond and Diamond Select.
In addition to Travel Impressions, ALGV features vacations brands including Apple Vacations, Cheap Caribbean, Funjet Vacations, Southwest Vacations, Blue Sky Tours, BeachBound and United Vacations.
The extended weekend gave attendees the opportunity to immerse themselves in destination offerings including volleyball and golf tournaments, hiking, horseback riding, ziplining and spa treatments. The end of one era and the beginning of a new one was capped off by a formal dinner and a performance by the rock band Sugar Ray.
