During this time, when so many of us are staying at home, I wanted to remain engaged with my clients.

I didn’t want to intrude on their family time, but I wanted them to know that I am thinking of them. I am excited for us all to travel again; however, now doesn’t feel like the right time to call with trip ideas.

I bought wildflower seed packets and mailed them to clients with a note: “Sending these seeds for you to enjoy during your time at home. Looking forward to planting some travel seeds as soon as things begin returning to normal.”

My goal with this was to show clients that I am thinking of them as spring turns to summer, and sending something for them to enjoy during this strange and sweetly domestic period.

Hopefully, these clients will remember me each time they see and enjoy their flowers. It’s an unobtrusive way to share hope, beauty and thoughts of travel. I also bought a pack for myself, so that I could “play along at home.” And
I will use the hashtag #planttheseedsoftravel when sharing photos on social media, so that we can compare the seeds’ progress and stay in touch during this time.

So far, the response has been great. I have gotten calls and emails. When I mention the hashtag, and the idea of “growing together,” my clients get into it. Travel is all about connecting with places and people. And now we’ve found a nice way to stay connected from our homes.
