What
The American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) recently released the results from its annual How America Travels study. Confidence in the travel industry is high, with 50% of travel agents predicting that their business will be better in 2020 than it was in 2019.

Why It Matters
The ASTA report also provides a detailed profile on the types of clients who choose to use advisors. Of particular interest: Consumers who use agents anticipate spending more on their next trip ($4,015 versus $1,687) and are more likely to travel overseas than travelers who don’t use an advisor.

Fast Facts
- Top destinations for travel agent users include Japan, China and Thailand in Asia and the U.K., Italy, France, Spain and Germany in Europe.

- In 2020, travelers will spend an average of $6,772 (a 10% increase over the past 12 months) and anticipate taking 2.9 trips per year.

- 50% of men feel the economy will be better 12 months from now, compared to 31% of women.
