90% of Americans Are Planning to Travel in the Next 6 Months

What: 90% of Americans Plan to Travel in the Next Six Months, 39% in the Next 60 Days

Nine out of 10 Americans are planning to travel in the next six months, according to the most recent research from Longwoods International. Thirty-nine percent of Americans have a trip planned in the next 60 days, boding well for the spring break travel season. The survey also found that 70% of travelers feel comfortable traveling outside their communities, and that most travelers choose to support small, local businesses on their travels.

Why It Matters: Americans Are Comfortable With Travel and Want to Support Small Businesses

The survey — which was fielded on Feb. 16 — finds that traveler comfortability has now reached pre-Omicron variant levels and that most Americans plan to travel this spring or summer, echoing recent data from Destination Analysts that found that 81% of Americans were planning to travel in the next six months.

This wave’s data confirms Americans are ready to move on from the pandemic and get back out on the road and in the air.

Of the many Americans planning to travel, only 39% have trips planned for the next 60 days, suggesting that travel advisors need not look far for their next client. It’s time to ramp up outreach and show clients what you can do for them — and that you can do it quickly and seamlessly. And because the research shows that travelers are keen to support small businesses that have suffered during the pandemic, now is the time to remind travelers of your position as a small business, as well.

“Spring and summer travel look strong for 2022,” said Amir Eylon, president and CEO of Longwoods International. “With COVID-19 restrictions and mandates being dropped across the country, most travelers are comfortable with these developments. This wave’s data confirms Americans are ready to move on from the pandemic and get back out on the road and in the air.”
