When I learned I was scheduled to attend yet another trade show in Las Vegas, I decided that, this time, I needed to bring my husband and 10-year-old granddaughter Kaitlyn with me.
The trade show was at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas hotel, which is a brand-new addition to the City Center development, so that's where we chose to stay. Wow, what a magnificent property! It's a real feast for the eyes and ears. Plus, the staff was obviously very well briefed in how to make a guest really feel like a guest -- everyone was friendly, helpful and met us with a sincere smile.
Because the trade show was at the same hotel, Kaitlyn had a chance to pop in and see me "at work." It gave her a better understanding of what I do all day. My husband had planned to do various activities around Las Vegas while I was working, but the hotel had so much to explore that they never left the property. There were interesting exhibits, fabulous pools and lots of unique statues and electronic art. Kaitlyn particularly loved a giant statue of a high-heeled shoe. There was also a circle of dog statues just in front of the conference area and, when I couldnít explain why the statues were there, Kaitlyn made up her own reason. Who knew that staying at a wonderful hotel could bring out such creativity?
When it was all over, I believe she went back home with many new memories from those few days in Las Vegas with Grandma and Grandpa. And, after all, isn't that why we travel with our loved ones in the first place.
