Q: If clients only had one day and one night in Bangkok, what would
you suggest they do to make the most of their time?
A: As Lebua is located close to the river, we would recommend
guests take a trip along the Chao Phraya by public boat. The
authentic experience costs less than $1 one way along the river.
The trip will take you toward the Grand Palace and Wat Po and
Temple of the Dawn, some of Bangkok’s most important sites. Next,
guests could take a short taxi ride to the new malls filled with
posh shops before heading back to the hotel to enjoy the sunset
from our Skybar on the 64th floor. A dinner at one of our al fresco
rooftop restaurants Sirocco, Mezzaluna or Breeze would round off
the perfect day. Clients looking for more, however, can visit
Bangkok’s night markets for some great bargains.
Q: Many travelers love to shop
and bring home some local flavor. Where would they go to find items
like spices and exotic ingredients?
A: If guests are in Bangkok over a weekend, we would suggest the
famous Chattuchack market where every type of spice and food
conceivable is available. The Bangrak District near the hotel also
has some fantastic shops.
Q: Can you recommend some favorite restaurants serving local
cuisine?
A: Harmonique on Chareon Krung road is a small family-run
business with an excellent reputation. Baan Chiang just off of
Silom offers authentic food while the restaurant itself is located
in an old Thai-style house. Thanying restaurant, just a five-minute
taxi ride from the hotel, is a local favorite. Finally, the
well-known and very popular Mango Tree features al fresco dining
and some of the best mango juice in the city.
Q: Thailand sells a lot of
loose precious and semi-precious stones. Do you have any
recommendations for clients as to where to shop?
A: We primarily recommend two shops: Gems Gallery International,
which is about a 20-minute drive from the hotel, and the Royal
Rapidaily, which is also close by and one of Bangkok’s
longest-established gem dealers. Both have good reputations and
prices but don’t be afraid to haggle a better deal.
Q: Finally, after all the shopping and dining, what should
guests do to relax?
A: A traditional Thai massage or visit to a spa is a must. Watt
Po is the home of the traditional Thai massage. If guests are
looking for pure pampering, then the choice in Bangkok is limitless
Nicolie and the S Medical Spa offer single, half-day and full-day
treatment prices.
