Through Jan. 31, 2013, each adult traveling in Red Sleeper service on Great Southern Rail’s The Ghan or Indian Pacific journeys in Australia may be accompanied by a child age 15 or under free of charge. This savings of up to $1,000 per child offers the perfect budget- and family-friendly way to learn about the Outback as guests travel from Darwin to Adelaide (or vice versa) on The Ghan, or from Perth to Sidney on The Indian Pacific.
While traveling through areas such as Alice Springs, the Blue Mountains, Adelaide and Nullarbor Plain, whistlestops along the route allow families to engage in activities such as canoeing, camel rides and art gallery visits.
The recently relaunched Red Service features a newly refurbished diner as well as the new Red Gum Lounge for enjoying panoramic views of the scenery.
Families can choose from a full or partial journey onboard either The Ghan or the Indian Pacific for fares starting at $557 per adult when booked by Sept. 30. www.greatsouthernrail.com.au
