What:At this year’s Phocuswright Conference in Los Angeles, the organization announced the award winners of its Travel Innovation Summit.
Why It Matters:The Phocuswright Conference is the premier travel technology and research event in the industry, with a great track record for picking the tech companies to watch. Each year, 32 innovators are selected to demonstrate groundbreaking applications and solutions that are set to change the travel industry. From this group, winners are chosen by a panel of judges comprised of travel and tech experts who determine the top innovation in each of three categories: startup, emerging and established. The $100,000 General Catalyst Award for Travel Innovation, the Brand USA Marketing Innovation Award and the People’s Choice Award were also given out during the summit. This year’s winner of the $100,000 prize was PassportCard International, a real-time travel insurance program.
