Viking Ocean Cruises has invited the travel agent community to see the keel laying of the company’s first ship: the 928-passenger all-veranda Viking Star. The keel is the backbone of the ship and the laying of the keel is a milestone in the construction of a ship. In the video, the first big section of the ship is laid in place, right on schedule.
Debuting in May next year in Northern Europe and the Mediterranean, Viking Star has fares set at 38 percent under the average for competitive ships in the region, with no non-commissionables. The fare includes a free shore excursion in every port; complimentary beer, wine and soft drinks with lunch and dinner; and free Wi-Fi access, specialty coffees, transfers, port taxes and fees.
