Turning a New Page

Feb 28, 2015

I’ve had the privilege of working with extremely talented and creative people for most of my time in publishing, and at the top of that list is TravelAge West Art Director Deborah Dimond.

In addition to the stellar layout work she does from issue to issue — which has won multiple national design awards and sets TravelAge West apart from all other travel trade publications — Deborah creates custom videos, helps with ads, builds marketing campaigns and much more.

In this issue, you can see the results of her latest effort to redesign our magazine.

“I wanted a clean and contemporary look for the publication,” Deborah said. “Our new fonts are sleek and easier to read. I also wanted the photographs to be center stage. I’m most excited about our fresh front-of-book section, Field Notes. It gave me the opportunity to rethink our style.”

Deborah’s redesign gives us a great platform to highlight new features in the Field Notes section. Send us an email ([email protected]) and let us know what you think of the new look and the new content.

Deborah is definitely a trendsetter in what she does, but we know she is not alone out there. We’re looking for agents that excel at their jobs and have a trailblazing vision for the industry. If you’re such an agent, or if you know of an agent who is taking a creative approach with their business, check out the TravelAge West Trendsetter Awards (TravelAgeWest.com/WAVE/Trendsetters). Winning agents receive great travel prizes and will be recognized at our annual WAVE Awards dinner.

It’s important for all of us to acknowledge the spirit of innovation and creativity in our industry, no matter where we find it.
