The American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) is applauding American Airlines for reversing its decision to withhold AAdvantage points and miles for agency bookings, as well as adjusting its approach to New Distribution Capability (NDC) implementation.

The move comes after advisors around the world spoke out about the plan, which was supposed to launch on May 1 and would have meant that American Airlines would only award AAdvantage rewards to travelers who booked directly with American, or through the preferred New Distribution Capability (NDC) channels.

The news comes after ASTA launched the "Save My Miles" campaign in March, providing advisors with tools to engage congressional representatives and travelers on the issues surrounding American's NDC plans and removal of agencies' ability to earn commissions on AAdvantage sales.

Thank you to everyone who stood behind us.”
