On Sunday, July 7 — the end of the Fourth of July holiday — officers for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) screened a record 3,013,413 people in a single day.

This travel day surpassed the previous record of 2,996,193 passengers screened on June 23, 2024.

Our Analysis: Prepare Clients for a Busier-Than-Ever Summer Travel Season

TSA predicted that this summer would see record daily passenger volumes — and it was right. Last July 7, TSA screened just 2,644,639 travelers, seeing an increase of 368,774 people this year.

With more people than ever traveling this summer, it’s essential that travel advisors inform their clients about best practices at the airport, how to ensure a smooth travel experience and what to do if things go wrong. This is also a great time for clients to use TSA PreCheck if they have it — so make sure their Known Traveler Number is in their reservation.
