One of the most beloved figures in the world is the late musician Bob Marley. A case could be made that the reggae legend is the powerhouse behind Jamaica’s worldwide tourism appeal. Marley’s magic has spread beyond Jamaica to the Marley Resort & Spa in Nassau, the Bahamas, where the resort recently unveiled 16 themed rooms and suites christened after Marley song titles.
Five of these are Garden Rooms starting at $295 per night, named after the songs “Kaya”, “Kinky Reggae,” “Jammin,” “Talkin Blues” and “Satisfy My Soul”. These rooms combine Moroccan and Caribbean design and feature a stained glass dining table for two.
Four Garden Suites start at $425 a night and are tagged after “Nice Time,” “Sun is Shining,” “Misty Morning” and “Mellow Mood.” As an example, the Sun is Shining suite sports a King size bed, personal desk and dining area, lounge area and a large courtyard suite appropriately decorated in hues of yellow and orange.
The Four Master Suites begin at $565 per night and take their names from the songs “Lively Up Yourself,” “Positive Vibrations,” “Easy Skankin” and one of Marley’s all-time favorites, “Three Little Birds.” The resort is promoting the Three Little Birds suite as being ideal for families. The suite has a 42-inch, flat-screen television, a dining area, a private balcony entrance and a separate lounge area with a sofa bed offering both ocean and courtyard views. The Three Little Birds suite can be reserved as an adjoining suite to the Satisfy My Soul suite.
The two Royal Suites start at $750 per night are named after his greatest hits collection, “Legend” and the other, Royal Rita, for his widow, Rita Marley.
The Royal Rita suite was designed by Rita Marley, known for her legendary shopping prowess and the suite is adorned with mahogany furniture, African prints, authentic Caribbean accessories and fixtures and her signature Royal Rita chaise lounge. The suite includes a king-size bed, desk, dining area and a balcony with an ocean view. A nice touch is the suite’s wide plank floors.
The single Honeymoon Suite starts at $865 a night and is identified after Marley’s mega-hit “One Love.” Romance-inspired amenities include an in-room whirlpool tub for two, a large separate dining area, a wet bar, a couple’s shower with two rainfall showerheads and a balcony with an ocean view.
