Do you know anyone who’s done an outstanding job to promote the
cruise industry? If so, here’s an excellent opportunity to have
them recognized by the Cruise Lines International Association in
its first-ever Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame will honor travel
agents, cruise line executives and other individuals who have made
extraordinary contributions to the leisure cruise industry.
The honors will be designated in three categories: cruise
retailer, cruise line executive, and an at-large category that may
include another retailer or cruise executive, shipbuilder,
publisher, government official, politician, or anyone else whose
contributions to the cruise industry warrant nomination.
Cruise sellers at CLIA-member agencies can nominate individuals
for the Hall of Fame from now until April 30. Suggested criteria
include such factors as whether the nominee’s accomplishments have
created a positive change for the cruise industry. Is the nominee
someone who can be considered a role model for others in the cruise
industry? And, has the nominee done or accomplished something that
sets him or her apart from others? Nominees will be considered by a
committee comprised of members of CLIA’s Travel Agent Advisory
Board and member-line executives. The final slate of nominations
will then be ratified by CLIA’s Executive Committee.
The first three CLIA Hall of Fame members will be inducted at a
ceremony during cruise3sixty, CLIA’s first travel agent event,
which will be held at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County
Convention Center, from September 30 to October 2. The event will
be part travel show, part education and professional development
opportunity, with an additional focus on cruise lifestyle themes
including fashion, cuisine and entertainment.
CLIA-member travel agencies will receive nomination forms via
e-mail and via the Travel Agent Center on CLIA’s Web site, which
provides instructions as to how to return the nomination forms.
