Carnival Renews Fleet

Jun 16, 2010

Carnival Cruise Lines has been doing extensive renovation to keep its fleet fresh.

Fantasy Class
The eight Fantasy-class ships — Fantasy, Ecstasy, Fascination, Sensation, Imagination, Inspiration, Elation and Paradise — have been renovated, with six completing the full Evolutions of Fun upgrades, including the new top deck amenities such as a waterpark, redesigned pool and Serenity adults only area. The two remaining ships, Elation and Paradise, have received the Serenity area and should get the waterpark and pool over the next few years.

Sensation, Fascination and Ecstasy have each received 98 new balconies on oceanview staterooms as well as open deck features, including Carnival WaterWorks, with its 82-foot-long racing slides, a splash zone and the aqua park’s signature design element — a 300-foot-long Twister water slide filled with exhilarating twists and turns. The main pool on the Lido Deck received oversized umbrellas, colorful tile work and thatched roofing, creating a relaxing, resort-style ambiance.

A new Circle C facility for 12- to 14-year-olds has plasma-screen televisions displaying movies and music videos, a high-tech sound and light system, gaming consoles and a touch-screen jukebox.

Carnival Conquest
In addition, last year the 2,974-passenger Carnival Conquest emerged from a multimillion-dollar renovation with a new Circle C club for 12- to 14-year-olds and a massive LED screen on the Lido Deck. Eighteen balconies were also added to existing oceanview staterooms.
The Camp Carnival and Club O2 facilities for children and teens, respectively, were also updated and much of the fitness equipment in the ship’s 14,500-square-foot Spa Carnival facility was replaced.

Carnival Glory
In February the 2,974-passenger Carnival Glory received a multimillion-dollar renovation that added a Serenity adults-only retreat and a 270-square-foot Seaside Theatre poolside LED screen, plus a Circle C facility. Eighteen new balconies were also incorporated into existing oceanview staterooms and a new Mongolian wok venue was added to the casual poolside restaurant. Additionally, the Golden dining room, located forward, was reconfigured for Your Time Dining providing guests the option of open seating between 5:45 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. nightly. Bow-to-stern Wi-Fi access was added, as well.

Destiny and Triumph
Coming soon, staterooms on the Carnival Destiny and Carnival Triumph that feature floor-to-ceiling windows will be retrofitted with private balconies, creating a total of 48 additional 230-square-foot verandah staterooms on these vessels. Additionally, two new 750-square-foot “deluxe penthouse suites” — nearly double the size of the largest staterooms in the fleet — will be added to the Carnival Liberty.
