Celebrity Announces New Features for Silhouette and Reflection

Jan 07, 2011
Celebrity Cruises has announced details of the new features it will introduce on the fourth and fifth Solstice-Class ships, with Celebrity Silhouette debuting this year and Celebrity Reflection launching in 2012.

Reflection, which will have an additional deck, will introduce the line's first AquaClass Suites, each measuring 251 square feet with 57-square-foot verandas, and all the amenities associated with AquaClass accommodations, including access to the specialty restaurant, Blu, as well as 24/7 butler service.

In addition to the 34 new AquaClass Suites, Reflection will have eight new Sky Suites, 19 additional ConciergeClass staterooms and 11 additional inside staterooms, bringing the stateroom and suite total to 1,515.

"We gave a great deal of thought about how to ideally accommodate everything we're adding," said Dan Hanrahan, Celebrity president and CEO. "We're widening the ship slightly, enabling us to introduce each of these exceptional new venues without compromising Celebrityís premium space ratio and lauded traffic flow."

Reflection will have 245 more loungers on its expanded pool deck to suit the increased overall guest capacity, as well as 45 additional seats in the Celebrity Theater, 118 extra seats in the Oceanview Cafe, 24 additional seats each in Blu and in the Tuscan Grille, four more seats in Qsine and 40 additional seats in the main dining room, where Celebrity also offers Celebrity Select Dining, a flexible dining option allowing guests to choose when they wish to dine on a day-by-day basis.

Initially, Celebrity had planned a set of new features in and around the grassy Lawn Club for Reflections, but the shipyard has been able to deliver them on Silhouette as well. The Corning Museum hot glass studio will be replaced by a group of new venues, including The Lawn Club Grill, a 56-seat outdoor interactive grill offering high-end burgers and interactive demonstrations focused on pizza-making and grilling secrets. By night, guests will have a choice of meats to either grill themselves, side-by-side with Celebrityís chefs, or have them grilled to order, with a nominal surcharge.

The 48-seat Hamptons-style Porch will be designed with modern furnishings and creative use of natural light, offering fresh-baked breads and pastries for complimentary breakfasts and lunches. Located on the starboard side of the ship, at the entrance to the Lawn Club, Porch will also provide salads, paninis and sandwiches, in addition to specialty coffees, beer and wine.

The Lawn Club will also include a new Art Club where experienced and novice artists can participate in hands-on instruction from experts in drawing, painting and beading, as well as the art of food, with culinary-themed classes. The Art Studio also will present intimate pairing dinners hosted by guest chefs participating in Celebrityís Savor Your Destination program.

In addition, the Lawn Club's Alcoves are eight cabana-style settings, each designed for two to four guests. Each of them will offer Wi-Fi for guests who want to stay connected while relaxing, themed picnic baskets and an a la carte beverage menu. The Alcoves will be available as partial or all-day rental. Adjacent to The Alcoves, guests will find eight hammocks and two oversized Adirondack chairs.

The version of Michael's Club on Silhouette and Reflection will add a selection of more than 50 beers, including craft beers, and offer guests experiences, such as ideal food and beer pairings, demonstrations on pulling the perfect draft, all while snacking on homemade, gourmet potato chips, bread sticks and caramel popcorn, with major international sporting events airing on the venueís large, 46-inch television screens.

The new Hideaway on both vessels will provide a high-tech escape for vacationers relaxing with their iPads or trying out a new Apple product from the Celebrity iLounge. Inspired by the live trees suspended within the Grand Foyer of every Solstice-Class ship, the design resembles a tree house, with lounging "nests" for guests to kick back and relax.
