Regent Seven Seas Cruises has scheduled three Circles of
Interest enrichment programs focusing on art and architecture for
2008. Circles of Interest feature exclusive onboard and shore-side
experiences guided by world-class lecturers, instructors and
authorities from the realms of art, cuisine, history, environmental
conservation, photography and wellness.
Artistic and architectural treasures will be unearthed in
northern Europe, the Mediterranean, Adriatic Coast, Greek Isles and
northern Africa onboard summer and fall voyages of the 700-guest,
all-suite, all-balcony ship Seven Seas Voyager and the 490-guest,
all-suite Seven Seas Navigator. The programs will allow guests to
discover masterpieces representing the height of classic creativity
and meet distinguished contemporary artists who discuss their work
and inspirations.
“Our programs feature insightful perspectives on classic and
contemporary art from world-class experts, plus an insider’s view
into the environments and experiences that influence the creative
process,” said Sophie Vlessing, Regent’s vice present, marketing
and guest strategy. “These enlightening journeys also offer the
enjoyment of a core group of travelers sharing similar interests.
Circles of Interest will deliver truly memorable experiences
throughout 2008.”
Lisa Hahn, president and founder of Art Horizons International,
a special-interest tour company, will lead the voyages. Hahn will
host clients at private receptions, lecture and lead tours of art
studios, museums and acclaimed art libraries.
The Art and Architecture-themed cruise sails June 9-19 from
Monte Carlo to Dover. The fine line between art and architecture is
explored beginning with a private reception, followed by a lecture
focusing on the styles and technique found in contemporary
architecture, with an emphasis on Spain and Portugal. Highlights
include a visit to Portugal’s new 20,000-square-foot Ellipse
Foundation Contemporary Art Center and a tour of the 14th-century
mountaintop Sintra Palace.
From July 26-Aug. 2, Art in Exile will be explored from Venice
to Piraeus. Clients will travel the Cyclades Islands, current home
to many artists. Program highlights include a lecture on the
origins of Impressionist painting in northern France, a private
group dinner featuring discussion of the Getty Museum and visits to
the studios of three artists living on the island of Mykonos,
Greece.
The Architecture and Literature program runs Sept. 9-20 from
Istanbul to Piraeus. Lectures and presentations focus on global
libraries and learning centers. The program begins with a
reception, along with lectures and a private dinner focusing on
libraries as the new temples of culture and communication. In
Alexandria, Egypt, clients will visit the Alexandria Library
Museum, a major cultural center and commemoration of the city’s
lost library.
Rates for the programs range from $185 to $355 per person,
exclusive of cruise fare.
