Holland America Announces Asia and Pacific Itineraries for 2007

Jan 10, 2006

Holland America Line returns to Asia and the Pacific in 2007 with cruises spotlighting cultural capitals and burgeoning tourist attractions in China, Japan, Korea, eastern Russia and the South Pacific.

Asia Pacific cruising aboard the 1,258-passenger ms Statendam starts in spring 2007, with three 14-day sailings between Hong Kong and Osaka. These sailings will be followed by a unique 18-day Transpacific repositioning cruise from Osaka to Vancouver.

In the fall of 2007, Holland America will offer a popular 64-day Asia, Australia and Polynesian Explorer aboard the 1,380-guest ms Amsterdam. Clients will cruise from Seattle to Singapore, transiting the North Pacific and returning to North America by way of Southeast Asia, Australia and the South Pacific Seas en route to San Diego.
China and Japan, Ancient and New: An enhanced itinerary for 2007 adds a visit to Chilung, the port city for Taipei in Taiwan; scenic cruising in the Inland Sea of Japan and a late-night departure from Nagasaki. Other highlights of the 14-day adventure include overnight stays at Shanghai and Xingang. In Dalian, through the line’s extensive shore excursion offerings, guests may meet with a Chinese family in their home.

Japan, Eastern Russia and Alaska Beautiful by Nature: On May 3, 2007, the Statendam sails on a Transpacific cruise weaving her way from Japan and the scenic Kuril Islands to the rugged Aleutian Chain, stopping at a remote Russian outpost and sailing onward to Alaska, arriving 18 days later in Vancouver, British Columbia. This cruise includes Tokyo and Hokkaido, the least developed of Japan’s four main islands, continues through the Aleutian Chain and down the glacier-studded Alaskan coastline to Vancouver.

Along the way, guests can explore Kamchatka’s volcanoes by ATV in Petropavlovsk, Russia; experience Dutch Harbor; see massive Kodiak bears on Kodiak Island; and the wildlife of Czarist-era Sitka.

Embrace Asia on a Comprehensive 64-Day Sailing: For total immersion into the cultures and countries of Asia and the Pacific, Holland America offers a 2007 grand sweep of the North and South Pacific aboard the Amsterdam. The cruise, departing from Seattle Sept. 21, 2007, features 21 ports of call across three continents with overnight stays in Tokyo, Xingang, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Padang Bai, Indonesia.
