Holland America Line recently celebrated the construction of its yet-to-be-named Pinnacle Class ship, scheduled to debut in February 2016. The first steel for the 2,648-passenger ship was cut on Feb. 4, and President and CEO Stein Kruse presided over the event at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, Italy, where the vessel is being built.
This is the 15th ship built for Holland America Line by Fincantieri, which most recently delivered the Nieuw Amsterdam in July 2010. The Pinnacle ship is the largest ever built for the line and will include a host of new features.
Carnival Cruise Lines is also set to debut its largest ship ever. The 4,000-passenger Carnival Vista, which will share some of the Fun Ship 2.0 features of Carnival Breeze, is set to debut in spring 2016 with several innovations to be announced later in the year. Like HAL’s Pinnacle Class ship, Carnival Vista is under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy. Vista will be the 25th vessel in the Carnival Cruise Lines’ fleet.
