Norwegian Cruise Line’s (NCL) next new ship will be Norwegian Viva — the second of six planned vessels in the fresh Prima class, following namesake Norwegian Prima. The brand also recently updated its Latitude Rewards Program with new tiers for customers to achieve.
"Norwegian Viva sets the standard in the premium segment, illustrating our commitment to pushing boundaries in four main areas: wide-open space, service that puts guests first, thoughtful design and experiences beyond expectation,” said Harry Sommer, president and CEO of NCL. “We have taken everything our guests love to the next level with this brand-new class of ships designed with them in mind."
What to Expect Onboard Norwegian Viva
After Prima comes online in the summer of 2022, Viva will join the fleet in June 2023, first traversing the Mediterranean from the homeports of Lisbon, Portugal; Venice (Trieste) and Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy; and Athens (Piraeus), Greece. For the 2023-2024 winter season, it will make its way over to the Southern Caribbean from San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Viva will accommodate 3,219 guests (double occupancy) across its 142,500 gross tons. Private accommodations will include the line’s biggest inside, ocean-view and balcony staterooms. What’s more, Norwegian touts the vessel’s “highest staffing levels and space ratio of any new cruise ship in the contemporary and premium cruise categories, and largest variety of suite categories available at sea.”
The Haven by Norwegian ship-within-a-ship complex will further feature 107 suites plus a sundeck, infinity pool and outdoor spa exclusive to Haven guests.
Mirroring Prima, Vista will also showcase the class’s signature free-fall drop dry slides and a triple-decker Viva Speedway go-kart racetrack, as well as Ocean Boulevard. The latter’s 44,000 square feet worth of wraparound outdoor space will encompass Oceanwalk glass-floored bridges and Infinity Beach cantilevered pools. Plus, Indulge Food Hall will feature 11 different eateries.

SCR catalysts lower sulfur oxides up to 98% and nitrogen oxides up to 90%.
Enhancements to Norwegian’s Latitude Rewards Program
Meanwhile, Norwegian has enhanced its loyalty program. The Latitude Rewards Program now consists of seven levels, up from six, which are now easier to achieve. Platinum Plus is now named Sapphire, and Diamond has been added between it and Ambassador. It now takes fewer points to reach most levels (for example, it takes 20 points to reach Silver, versus 30 previously) — which would permit a passenger who booked a 10-day cruise in a suite to reach the tier after just one voyage.
One point is earned per night sailed, and extra points are tallied for each night in a suite or The Haven.
New benefits extend to a one-time complimentary cabin upgrade, Wines Around the World tasting experience, Sail & Sustain Mixology experience, member sailings, internet package discounts and tier-status pins, as well as classic cocktail parties, free specialty dining and laundry, priority tendering and disembarkation, discounted shore excursions, shopping, photo packages and spa treatments.
Travel advisors also have new resources and assets at Norwegian Central such as dedicated NCLU training courses to help navigate the tiers and inform their clients along the way.
