P&O Cruises Offers Global Adventures

Mar 07, 2005
Your clients can “Sail Around the World in 80 days,” or take a 100-day “Grand Voyage” aboard P&O Cruises in 2006. Either way, they’ll enjoy a distinctly British experience, complete with an elaborate afternoon tea service, and “West-End” style entertainment on two newly-announced itineraries. The 1,870-passenger P&O Aurora will sail the 80-day journey, and the 1,822-passenger Oriana will sail the 100-day voyage. Both cruises are roundtrip from Southampton, England.

The journey on the Aurora departs January 7, 2006, and spans 25 ports of call in 21 different countries. From her first stop in the Azores, the Aurora continues to the Caribbean before crossing the Panama Canal. She calls at Acapulco and San Francisco before arriving at Honolulu. Next comes the South Pacific, with stops in Pago Pago, Fiji and Auckland. In Australia, the Aurora calls at Sydney, Brisbane and Darwin. The ship then heads to Asia, with stops in Manila, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Penang in Malaysia. After that the ship stops in Colombo, Sri Lanka; and two ports of call in India before continuing to Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. The vessel then sails through the Suez Canal before reaching Athens, Rome, and returning to Southampton. Shorter segments of the “Around the World in 80 Days” journey are available, and range from 13 to 61 days.

The Oriana’s “Grand Voyage" departs on January 8, 2006 and stops at 41 ports of call in 19 countries. This unique itinerary stops first in the Mediterranean, before continuing to Port Said for a visit to Cairo and Giza. After passing through the Suez Canal, the ship stops in Safaga, for visits to Luxor and the Valley of the Kings. Continuing on to Oman, the Oriana stops at three ports in India before heading to Asia. She calls at Singapore, Kunatan, Malaysia, Bangkok and Vietnam, then Hong Kong and Manila before spending an extended period in Australia. The ship then heads back to Asia for a return visit to Singapore, followed by Kuala Lumpur and Penang in Malaysia, Phuket (Thailand) and Colombo. Oriana then sets course for the Seychelles islands and South Africa, before heading up the west coast of Africa for calls at Walvis Bay in Namibia and St. Vincent in the Cape Verde Islands. The cruise ends with visits to Tenerife in the Canary Islands and Lisbon before returning home to Southampton. Segments ranging from 15 to 51 days are available.

Early booking fares start at $14,550 for the Aurora, and $17,160 for the Oriana.
