SeaDream Yacht Club has released details of its 2003 season. Monte
Carlo will be the primary home port; there will be more
embarkations and disembarkations at Civitavecchia (port for Rome),
more overnights and late evening departures from “nightlife” ports
in the Caribbean and Mediterranean, and more “Marina Days,” in
which clients can enjoy water activities in secluded bays and
coves.
Larry Pimentel, chairman and CEO of SeaDream, said the itinerary
and schedule changes for 2003 came as a result of client
comments.
“Our experience in our first year of operation shows that guests
love the so-called glamour yachting ports and intimate glamour
capitals of the Mediterranean,” he said. “That’s why we elected to
home port in Monte Carlo, where we will have the opportunity to
dock aft-in right among the great yachts of the world.”
Pimentel said Rome was selected by passengers as “a highly
desirable place to begin or end a yachting holiday.”
SeaDream’s 2003 Mediterranean schedule, which features more than
30 new ports, also includes some seven-day Nice-Nice itineraries
and two August itineraries in the Greek Islands with Istanbul being
the northern turnaround port.
Regarding port overnights and late-evening departures, Pimentel
said passengers told him they don’t want to leave an exciting port
of call late in the afternoon or early evening, as most cruise
ships do, just when things are getting started ashore.
In the summer Mediterranean sailings, SeaDream will overnight in
St. Tropez, Cannes, St. Jean Cap Ferrat, Capri, Sorrento and
Bonafacio in Corsica, and will remain until late in the evening at
Positano and Calvi.
In other SeaDream news, the line is planning a series of travel
agent seminars in California in October. Selling the Dream sessions
will be by invitation only, with a limited number of
participants.
The presentations, conducted by Pimentel, Bob Lepisto, vice
president of sales and marketing, and Gretchen Bell, director of
business development, will be held in San Francisco, Palo Alto, San
Jose, Pleasanton, Stockton, Sacramento, La Jolla, Newport Beach,
Pasadena, Beverly Hills and Santa Barbara.
