Celebrity Cruises launched its “Celebrity Xpeditions,” program to
great fanfare in January 2004. Since then, the innovative offshoot
to the premium line has garnered accolades by offering exotic,
one-of-a kind vacations to the Galapagos Islands, the Arctic and
Antarctic aboard the 296-foot luxury yacht, “Celebrity Xpedition,”
and polar-class icebreaker, “Kapitan Khlebnikov,” respectively.
Buoyed by the success of the “Xpeditions” program, Celebrity has
decided to expand the concept to its primary fleet. Now, passengers
on every major cruise itinerary will be able to experience an
“Xpedition” of their own.
Examples of the new “Xpeditions” include a “Fire and Ice”
experience in Vancouver, featuring a helicopter and Zodiac tour of
the Mt. Garibaldi volcano and Howe sound; an Alaskan wilderness
trek in search of black bears; a journey to Siberia from Anchorage;
an aquatic archaeology course in Bermuda; an exploration of the
Copan Ruins in Honduras; a hike at the base of the Matterhorn in
Switzerland; a four-day excursion to the Great Pyramids in Egypt,
plus excursions to Easter Island and Machu Picchu.
The “Xpeditions” will vary in length from one-day shore
adventures to multi-day pre and post-cruise stays.
