Silversea Cruises is doing away with rigid embarkation schedules
for the Silver Cloud in 2003, allowing guests to customize the
length of their cruises.
The new Personalized Voyages program lets cruisers decide where
and when they want to board and disembark the ship, choosing from
more than 200 ports of call.
Guests can stay onboard as long as they like, with a minimum of
five nights required.
“At Silversea, we are defining a new level of luxury by
recognizing that different people have different travel styles at
different times,” said CEO Albert Peter. “In some instances, guests
can only travel at certain intervals for a set number of days,
particularly as many travelers are combining leisure trips with
their business travel plans.”
The Silver Cloud’s 2003 schedule lists the ports at which
passengers can embark or debark. The schedule can be found in the
2003 cruise atlas, which was due out last week, or on the web site
at www.sil versea.com.
A daily rate is charged for each day the passenger is onboard.
There is no rate charged for the disembarkation day.
Published daily rates range from $345, primarily on
trans-Atlantic crossings in May and October, to $995 for July calls
in the Baltic Sea. A Silversea spokesman said commissions will
simply be calculated on the daily rates. Travel agents would get
their usual Silversea percentage on the total booking.
The daily rates do not include air transportation but do cover
wines, spirits, taxes, port charges and gratuities, and on certain
sailings, special shore events. Silversea will assist with hotel
and transfer arrangements in some ports for a fee.
