Value World Tours announced the construction of its latest river
cruise vessel, the RV Indochine, a colonial-style ship designed to
sail the Mekong River between Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, and Siem Reap,
Cambodia.
The vessel, which is scheduled for completion in July, combines
antiquated nostalgia with cutting-edge technology in order to
provide a comfortable “soft adventure voyage.” On Oct. 10, the
Indochine will embark on its inaugural journey with passengers
onboard.
The new ship, which is enhanced with Burmese teakwood, features
a French-influenced sit-down restaurant, an upper-deck lounge and
bar and a full-length sun deck. Moreover, with a maximum capacity
of just 48 passengers, all 22 of the vessel’s air-conditioned
cabins include large out-facing windows, beds that convert from
twin to double size and private bathrooms.
Accompanying the ship’s inauguration, Value World Tours has
designed a 14-day package that includes both land and cruise
exploration. The tour, which starts at $2,499 per person, provides
a variety of sightseeing opportunities in and around the cities of
Ho Chi Minh and Siem Reap, as well as daily shore excursions along
the Mekong River.
In Ho Chi Minh, the package includes one night at a five-star
hotel, visits to the Vietnam War Cu Chi tunnels and Notre Dame
Cathedral and a rickshaw ride to a Chinese market. During the 10
days on the river, the package’s shore destinations include a snake
farm, a floating market and the Tay An Pagoda. In Siem Reap, the
package provides tours to many ancient temples, including the
world-famous UNESCO Heritage Site of Angkor Wat. English-speaking
guides lead all of the sightseeing.
For $3499 per person, the 14-day package expands to include
airfare from certain U.S. gateway cities including Los Angeles, San
Francisco and Seattle. Additionally, Value World Tours offers a
10-day Indochine cruise, starting at $1,999 per person. Certain
taxes and fees are not included.
Reservations can now be made for cruises departing October 2008
through March 2009.
