World Cruise With Oceania

Oceania Cruises has announced the launch of its second world cruise. Typically, world cruises depart early in the year and return in the spring, but the 180-day journey with Oceania departs July 8, 2015 on the newly refurbished Insignia. Reservations opened Dec. 4 on the 684-guest ship, which will sail from Miami to 100 different ports. Oceania is selling the cruise as a complete itinerary only, because demand for the first voyage was so great that they had no reason to segment it this time around.

“The first 180-day voyage introduced this past summer sold out in less than eight hours, leaving legions of our guests asking for an another epic journey,” said Oceania Cruises president Kunal S. Kamlani.

Insignia will sail north to Canada and New England and then cross the Atlantic to Greenland and Iceland. She will visit ports in the Mediterranean before staying for multiple days in Asian cities, including Mumbai, Yangon, Singapore and Hong Kong. Guests will explore Africa from Kenya to Cape Town and travel to the continent’s western shores before concluding with a holiday season in the Caribbean.

Onshore events during the cruise include: a wine tasting and dinner at the Medoc estate, Chateau Giscours in Bordeaux, France; a night of glamor in Abu Dhabi at the seven-star Emirates Palace above the Arabian Desert; a visit to the immortal city of Amarapura, home to the Mahagandayon Monastery and Mandalay (the last royal capital of the Myanmar Empire); a day of exploring the ancient temples of Bagan in Myanmar; an evening at the famous Jim Thompson House in Bangkok and an open-air dinner at Swakop River Canyon outside Namibia’s Walvis Bay.
