On a recent visit to Valencia, Spain, I had the opportunity to take a guided bike tour of the city with Do You Bike Rentals, a local operator. I don't bike much at home, but I found this tour to be entertaining and informative __ and, dare I say it, fun.

I took the three-hour Valencia Open Bike Tour that includes a ride through the old town of Valencia, the Turia Gardens and City of Arts and Sciences. The route we took was very flat __ making for an easy ride __ and I always felt safe thanks to well-marked, designated bike lanes. My guide, Paco, was easygoing, funny and didn't mind stopping often to rest and take photos. It was fun, active and I felt like I got a great overview of the city from a true local.
