What: Paris Is the No. 1 Most Popular Travel Destination for 2023

Paris is the most-booked city in 2023 and is pacing 96% ahead of 2022, according to Virtuoso travel bookings. Last year, Paris was the No. 1 European city booked by Virtuoso’s luxury travel advisors, second only globally to New York City.

Our Analysis: Paris Has Always Been Popular, But Not Like This

While Paris has always been a favorite city among travelers, bookings show that the destination has become significantly more popular, despite rising costs. According to Virtuoso, the number of trips booked to Paris in 2022 was 44% higher than in 2019.

And Paris’ popularity seems to be resistant to historically high prices. The city is the most expensive option compared to Europe’s two other top cities, with hotel rates in Paris costing 30% more than in Rome and 21% more than in London. This is further reflected by the fact that average daily rates in Paris are 33% higher for 2023 than they were in 2019.
