SeaWorld Introduces New Thrill Ride Called Tidal Twister

Tidal Twister — a unique horizontal dueling coaster featuring high-speed turns, banks and upside-down twists designed to mimic the movement of ocean tides — became the first of its kind when it opened at SeaWorld San Diego earlier this month. The ride’s two trains, each of which have a capacity of 16 passengers, load at opposite ends of a figure-eight track. Riders facing both forward and backward race at speeds of up to 30 mph, crossing in the center section with a thrilling zero-gravity roll.

“There is no other coaster experience in the world like Tidal Twister,” said Marilyn Hannes, park president of SeaWorld San Diego. “The two trains duel one another, and guests see the excitement on the faces of the other riders. You almost feel like you can reach out and touch them.”
