By Land and By Sea

Dec 11, 2008

Both by land and by sea, clients with a penchant for big-game hunting and deep-sea fishing can hunt and fish on the private island of Lanai all year at the Four Seasons Resorts Lanai, thanks to the island’s year-round sunshine, white-sand beaches, warm waters and surrounding acres of land that are occupied by wild Axis deer and Mouflon sheep.

Through Dec. 18, 2009, clients can experience the best of Four Seasons Resorts Lanai’s hunting excursions with the By Land & Sea package, which is designed to offer two completely different, yet complimentary hunting experiences on the island. The package includes accommodations for four nights at either the Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Manele Bay or at the Four Seasons Resort Lanai, The Lodge at Koele; unlimited scheduled island transportation for two; a daily breakfast buffet for two; one 12-hour guided hunt; a four-hour deep-sea fishing charter; and a choice of one activity per person, consisting of either a 50-minute Pohaku Wela Hot Stone massage, one round of sporting clays at Lanai Pine Sporting Clays & Archery Range, or a round of golf at either The Experience at Koele, designed by Greg Norman and Ted Robinson, or The Challenge at Manele, designed by Jack Nicklaus. A private, al fresco, five-course dinner and wine pairing for two featuring a selection of the angler’s catches is also included. The package starts at $6,100 per room, per night, based on double occupancy.

Developer Castle & Cooke Resorts, LLC believes that the hunting experiences to be found on the island, which is only 13 miles wide and 18 miles long, are one-of-a-kind.

“Lanai offers unsurpassed hunting experiences that cannot be found anywhere else in the world due to the island’s unique ecosystem,” said Gary Onuma, game manager for Castle & Cooke Resorts, LLC. “The hunter success rate is extraordinarily high due to the abundance of wild game that roam the island, allowing sportsmen to tag more than one animal per day. Combine that with the abundance of deep-sea catches the ocean offers, including Blue Marlin, Mahi-mahi and Ono, and it’s pretty clear why this is the destination of choice for sportsmen.”

During their stay, guests also have the opportunity to engage in horseback riding; surfing; and four-wheel-drive adventures across miles of rugged terrain. Both Four Seasons Resorts also offer clay-target shooting and archery at the Lanai Pine Sporting Clays & Archery Range, a 200-acre complex nestled in a pine valley with views overlooking Maui and Molokai.

Four Seasons Resorts Lanai was developed by Castle & Cooke Resorts, LLC and is managed by the Four Seasons. It comprises two properties: the Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Manele Bay and Four Seasons Resort Lanai, The Lodge at Koele.
