For 17 years straight, the readers of Meetings & Conventions
magazine have presented the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau
(HVCB) with its Gold Service Award. Meetings and Conventions is one
of the nation’s leading meeting trade publications.
The HVCB was honored in 2006 for the outstanding support that
meeting planners and their clients received when hosting business
meetings, conferences and events in the Hawaiian Islands.
Michael Murray, CMP, CMM, CASE, HVCB’s vice president of sales and
marketing for corporate meetings and incentives (CMI), said the
award validates the industry-wide professionalism and quality of
customer service that Hawaii offers.
“Make no mistake. Earning the Gold Service Award year after year
is a team effort that everyone in our industry deserves some
measure of credit,” Murray remarked. “This award reflects how
collaboratively we all work together HVCB, the Hawaii Convention
Center, our Island Chapters and industry partners statewide to help
clients make the most of their Hawaii meeting experience.”
What makes this award particularly meaningful to HVCB is that it
is determined by the votes of meeting planners throughout the
country.
The criteria that meeting planners used in determining award
recipients included professionalism of staff, support on hotels and
site inspections, assistance with ground transportation planning,
guidance on local attractions, and liaison with local vendors and
services.
HVCB will receive its Gold Service Award on November 10 at
Meetings & Conventions’ Gold Awards ceremony in New York City,
and will also be featured along with other award winners in the
magazine’s November issue.
