Hawaiian Head-Turner

Jan 05, 2007

As the renovation and reinvention of Waikiki continues into 2007, travel agents should watch for the debut of the Outrigger Regency on Beach Walk, a head-turning newcomer that may just redefine the condominium concept in Waikiki.

Part of Outrigger’s Waikiki Beach Walk a $460 million redevelopment along Lewers Street, Beach Walk, Kalia Road and Saratoga Road the 48-unit Outrigger Regency on Beach Walk is set to welcome its first guests in February.

“The phrase ‘urban chic’ comes to mind when speaking of the Outrigger Regency on Beach Walk,” said Steve Winter, vice president of operations for the Outrigger Condominium Collection. “This is truly a boutique property with a distinctive design. At the same time, it offers all the comforts of home, and you can’t beat its location.”

Billed as a modern, upscale resort alternative, the Outrigger Regency on Beach Walk is promising a sense of privacy and privilege within its walls. A step away, Waikiki Beach Walk offers the destination’s newest shops, restaurants and entertainment.

“The Outrigger Regency on Beach Walk is ideal for the independent traveler who is seeking the advantage of sleek Waikiki accommodations in the heart of the action,” Winter said. “Anyone who enjoys the convenience of a condominium with full hotel services will be impressed with the high level of furnishings, appliances and decor of this new addition to our line.”

Although it doesn’t have a pool, guests can use the facilities at the nearby Outrigger Reef on the Beach.

The one- and two-bedroom units of the Outrigger Regency on Beach Walk come with high-end amenities like complimentary high-speed Internet access and 27-inch flat-screen televisions. Living rooms feature tropical-hardwood floors and floor-to-ceiling windows that open to ocean, city and mountain views. Gourmet kitchens are equipped with a dishwasher, oven, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster, cookware and table settings, while white marble vanities give the bathrooms an added touch of class.

The Outrigger Regency on Beach Walk joins the chain’s two existing condominiums in South Oahu, including the Outrigger Luana Waikiki, where Winter formerly served as general manager.

“We continually get high marks from Luana Waikiki guests,” Winter said. “At the gateway to Waikiki, it’s a great choice for the client who wants to be in Waikiki but without all the hustle and bustle of a typical Waikiki hotel.”

Outrigger Waikiki Shore, meanwhile, boasts a beachfront setting resulting in unparalleled views from its accommodations. At the neighboring Outrigger Reef on the Beach, Waikiki Shore guests have access to a full-service resort experience with all the amenities, including a swimming pool.

Winter is obviously pleased with Outrigger’s trio of condominiums in Waikiki.

“Each is distinctive in its own right, but all of them offer first-rate accommodations with the Outrigger brand of island hospitality,” he noted.

While Outrigger’s Condominium Collection’s nightly rates run slightly higher than those of the competition, the family-owned company is doing what it takes to ensure that guests enjoy the best condominium vacation experience available, adds Winter.

“We are not focused on quantity, but rather on quality,” he said.

Winter believes the Outrigger Regency on Beach Walk will position his chain as a leader in offering condominium suites in Waikiki’s best locations.

“We definitely want our travel agent partners to experience the new property,” he said. “It may be difficult at times to secure accommodations, but we’ll do our best to honor requests.”

When space is available, travel agents can stay at any Outrigger property for up to 50 percent off published rates.
