With more than 30 resorts on four islands and a variety of romance
packages to choose from, Aston Hawaii is expanding its focus toward
destination weddings.
The flexibility of inventory makes the step a natural for Aston,
which has long marketed to families, honeymooners or those
celebrating anniversaries.
Destination weddings are growing in popularity throughout the
islands, with couples planning everything from private ceremonies
for just the two of them to elaborate gatherings with friends and
family in tow. With destination weddings, the entire wedding party
and all the guests can meet in Hawaii to celebrate the couple’s
nuptials together.
According to Joni Paahao, senior vice president of sales,
marketing and reservations, Aston’s accommodations suit virtually
everyone’s needs since they range from studios with kitchenettes to
three-bedroom suites with full kitchens.
“The large living areas and expansive grounds allow couples and
their guests the opportunity to continue the celebration together
days after the wedding,” Paahao said.
Aston has also made ceremony planning simpler with on-site
wedding coordinators and ceremony locations to help couples create
an event that’s just the way they imagined.
“Hanalei Bay Resort on Kauai, Aston Kaanapali Shores on Maui and
Waimea Plantation Cottages on Kauai all offer wedding coordinator
services that assist guests with on-site weddings,” Paahao
said.
Second marriages are increasing in frequency these days as well,
and many include children from first marriages in the ceremony.
Today’s couples with kids are choosing to celebrate their unions
with “family-moons” a honeymoon that includes the whole family.
Aston’s one- and two-bedroom suites are geared to family comfort
with such homey touches as full kitchens, laundry facilities and
separate living/sleeping areas.
Most Aston properties offer honeymooners a complimentary room
upgrade, plus a bottle of wine or champagne. A few go a step
further by providing souvenir wine glasses, Godiva chocolates,
Hawaiian love song CDs and complimentary tropical drinks at on-site
restaurants and bars.
According to Paahao, honeymooners wanting to island hop receive
an Aston bonus. The Island Hopper Program offers discounts of up to
25 percent off when guests stay seven consecutive nights or more at
any Aston property on one or more islands.
“This means whether on the move or just looking for more time to
relax, this program is ideal for guests who want to hop to
different islands and encounter all Hawaii has to offer,” she
added.
