What was once the Playboy Club, Beaches Boscobel Resort and Golf
Club in Negril, Jamaica, recently completed a $10 million
renovation and is attempting to lure families. Sandals Resorts
International welcomed the property last month to the Beaches
Resorts family.
“The main target for the resort is family, and I would have to
say families with children of all ages,” said Tiffany Wentz,
spokesperson for the property. “It really has the feel of a family
resort.”
The all-inclusive luxury property features 230 large rooms and
suites. All include king-size beds or two double beds,
air-conditioning, satellite televisions, in-room safes,
refrigerators and private baths. There also are two luxury family
suites, one grande luxe room and one premium room equipped for
disabled guests.
Amenities include four pools, including a kids’ pool and
Jacuzzis, land and watersports, a children’s petting zoo,
age-specific children’s centers, a video center, five restaurants
and bars, including child-size buffet stations, and golf at nearby
Sandals Golf and Country Club.
Dining options include Bayside restaurant, serving breakfast,
lunch and dinner buffets; The Arizona Grill, offering snacks daily,
and Tex-Mex cuisine for dinner; The Venetian, serving authentic
Italian cuisine for dinner only; and Eleanor’s, an adults-only
restaurant that serves Caribbean cuisine.
Land sports include volleyball, basketball, board games,
billiards, outdoor chess, shuffleboard, table tennis, golf (caddies
are mandatory and cost extra, as do rental clubs and carts) and
four tennis courts with two lit for night play. Watersports include
kayaking, windsurfing, scuba diving, sailing, aqua trampoline,
glass-bottom boat rides, snorkeling and paddle boats.
For parents who want a little time to themselves, the resort
provides baby-sitting and nanny services. Families can try out a
nanny and retain her services for the week if they are satisfied.
The rate for nanny services is $7 per hour.
In addition, parents with teenagers will not have to worry about
them being bored because the children’s centers offer activities
for different age groups.
“The children’s center is set up so that it is age-specific,”
Wentz said. “You don’t get a 4-year-old doing what a 12-year-old
would do.”
For couples who wish to tie the knot, there is a wedding
office.
“This is a very popular option for couples getting married for a
second time who would like to include children from a previous
marriage in the ceremony,” Wentz said.

Beaches waiving single supplement fees. The offer is available for
