Guests of the former Courtyard Kauai at Coconut Beach will do a double take when they pull up to the hotel today. Fresh from a multimillion-dollar makeover, the property — now called Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort — has been fully remodeled to meet modern needs.
Case in point: The lobby has replaced its old-world decor with a contemporary island ambiance, complete with living walls (vertical gardens). The 313 guestrooms feature fashionable blue, green and beige furnishings and a dazzling wave mural.
The pool experience has done a 180 as well. The one-time modest courtyard with a small swimming hub has morphed into a infinity-edge pool with ocean views and amenities such as floating bean bags. The Crooked Surf puts a sophisticated spin on the poolside bar concept with craft cocktails and dishes such as pork bao buns, while other innovative dining spots include Moamoa Hawaiian Fish House; Daybreak Restaurant, offering a buffet breakfast; and First Light Coffee and Juice Bar.
The hotel’s address remains a major selling point. Set in the eastside town of Kapaa, it calls itself a “base camp for island adventures” thanks to its equal proximity to Kauai’s north and south shore attractions.
Damon Lockrem, sales and marketing director for Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort, describes its clientele as active, affluent travelers, with additional appeal to families and young couples.
