Hotel Bentley Deluxe Room

On a recent visit to Genoa, Italy, I had the pleasure of staying at the city’s new five-star property. The Bentley Hotel is located in the center of town in the residential Carignano district. While many of the hotel’s visitors are in town for corporate business, the property is also a great match for travelers and is walking distance from the the Teatro Carlo Felice, the Genoa Aquarium and close to shopping, as well as Genoa’s financial and business district.
The building was designed by Genoese architect Giuseppe Crosa di Vergagni in 1929 and used to be the headquarters of Ilva, Italy’s biggest iron and steel manufacturer. It has now been brought back to life by a complete makeover with a modern, elegant design.
The hotel’s 99 guestrooms are light and fresh, with a strategic design that maximizes space. A two-piece loveseat at the end of the bed splits to convert to a table for in-suite dining. Warm fabrics are accented by platinum, titanium and copper tones. And bathrooms, which offer both a tub for soaking and separate shower, are decorated in antique brown marble. All rooms offer air-conditioning; a mini refrigerator; satellite and on-demand, flat-screen televisions; a safe; around-the-clock room service and laundry service.
The Bentley’s Grace Restaurant offers a la carte dining in a similarly modern atmosphere and features regional Italian cuisine. The Lounge Bar is lively in the evenings and a popular meeting spot for both corporate visitors and leisure travelers.
For weary travelers, the Wellness Club Azure offers a refuge from a hectic day of travel or work. A warm indoor pool, accented by a floor-to-ceiling water feature invites relaxation, as do the two Vichy showers and the Turkish hammam. Next to the spa is a small fitness area with Technogym equipment.
The Bentley also offers space for meetings and events. Function rooms are spacious and well-equipped, although access to Wi-Fi and the Internet was spotty, at best.
