Hotels and resorts throughout Mexico are targeting families with special deals and festivities.

Families that book the Avalon Grand Cancun or Avalon Reef Club Isla Mujeres before Aug. 23 will receive a free pass to the “Wild Things Kids Adventure Program.” Kids can participate in a full schedule of “wild adventures,” such as beach Olympics, Mayan clay sculpture class, learning ancient hieroglyphics and more. Room rates start at $99 per person, and children 12 and under stay free.

Families will also receive an Avalon Adventure Pass worth more than $400 in savings with discounts for rental cars, meals and area attractions, such as jungle tours or a catamaran charter, which families can enjoy together. (www.avalonvacations.com)

Kids 12 and under stay free when sharing a room with an adult at Palace Resorts through Aug. 31. Special rates are also available for children ages 13 through 17.

In Cancun, for example, rates start at $137 per person at the Beach Palace or the Cancun Palace, and $165 at the Sun Palace. On the Riviera Maya, rates at the Moon Palace Golf Resort or the Xpu-Ha Palace, start at $165.
