Mauna Kea Resort, located on the island of Hawaii, invites an assortment of amateur and professional golfers to tee up on its 18-hole, par 72 course from July 1-5. The 40th annual event includes dining events, prizes, room rate specials at the resort and a number of other amenities for amateur players. The pro golfer cash purse prize is $10,000.
Registration and information packet distribution takes place on Monday, July 1 with a welcome cocktail reception starting at 5:15 p.m. followed by a dinner hosted by the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel beginning at 6 p.m. The first two days of the tournament consist of practice rounds, with an optional ladies tournament on Tuesday, July 2. The first of three rounds begins on July 3, followed by the Horserace Shootout. A fireworks ceremony and All-American BBQ will take place on the evening of the 4th and the awards ceremony will commence after the final round of the tournament on the 5th.

The deadline for entries is limited to the first 26 teams to submit their entry fees by May 25. Fees are $8,700 per team of four or $2,900 per amateur and include dinner functions, gifts and prizes, access to the green and a cart for two practice rounds and the three tournament rounds. The price of rooms begins at $299 per night with a complimentary breakfast for two and golf professional rooms available for Monday-Friday evenings.
Mauna Kea Resort was selected as the Big Island’s number-one course according to Golf Magazine. Famous golfers who have played the course include Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Gary Player.
Travel + Leisure magazine has also rated the hotel as one of the top three hotels in Hawaii.
