Molokai Makes Marriage Pure Bliss

Apr 01, 2005

Are your clients looking for a wedding that’s far away from the everyday? The Lodge and Beach Village at Molokai Ranch is helping romantics reach that dream with its ceremony and vacation packages.

From a private garden vow exchange at the intimate Lodge in Maunaloa or oceanfront nuptials at the secluded Kaupoa Beach, the Destiny Wedding ceremony provides couples their wedding wishes without the worries. Priced at $1,900, the plan includes everything they’ll need for a perfect ceremony in paradise - even Molokai’s own “Service From The Heart,” sure to make their special day even more memorable.

All pre-ceremony arrangements are included, such as private transportation to obtain the marriage license and a meeting with the wedding coordinator who will help personalize the nuptials. Couples will also receive a photo album commemorating the occasion.

The Destiny Wedding package means couples will have nothing to worry about - aside from remembering the ring and saying “I do.” Everything is handled, down to the minister, flowers, music, champagne and cake.

According to Marlo Nishimoto, Director of Sales, many couples are adding on to their ceremony plan by booking The Lodge and Beach Villages’ Adventure Packages to cover their accommodations and meals. This route has been especially popular for couples wanting to bring friends and families with them for a Molokai marriage.

“The hook as to why our wedding business is growing is that couples can buy the hotel out,” explained Nishimoto. “They have the privacy factor of the island and have our entire staff to cater to their friends and family.”

Nishimoto described the 22-room Lodge as having the feel of a big home. “Both families get to know each other in a setting like this.” She commented that while wedding business is split between The Lodge and the Kaupoa Beach Village, the beach accommodations are not typically a buy out.

“We also have groups that will put their overflow guests at the Kaupoa Beach Village,” she explained. “They put their youthful and more active people at the beach and have the older guests stay up at The Lodge.”

The Lodge Adventure Package includes deluxe accommodations, a daily $60 dining credit and a $25 activity credit. Based on double occupancy, nightly rates are $199 per person.

Couples may prefer the environmentally-sensitive, canvas-framed bungalows at Kaupoa Beach. Nestled amid palm trees on a double-crescent white sand beach, the two-unit bungalows offer hammocks for swaying in the shade. Each unit features a queen-sized bed, solar-powered lights and ceiling fans, daily maid service and secluded lanai. The private bathroom has hot running water.

Nightly Adventure Package rates cover tentalow accommodations, three hearty ranch meals per day at the Kaupoa Dining Pavilion and a $25 activity credit from $169 per person, based on double occupancy. The third and fourth person rate is $75 each. All rates are valid through Dec. 31. While the Destiny Ceremony is non-commissionable, the packages are.
