OHANA Hotels & Resorts has completed a $5 million upgrade to
the 440-room OHANA East Hotel, located at 150 Kaiulani Avenue in
Waikiki. Beginning in July 2003, the top-to-bottom refurbishment
included all guest rooms and suites, corridors, hotel lobby,
fitness room, pool and pool deck.
“The OHANA East Hotel has been a long time favorite with
visitors and local residents,” said Ray Kanemori, Manager of the
property. “So it’s a real pleasure to be able to welcome our guests
to a newly refurbished hotel.” Guest rooms and suites have all
received new carpeting in warm earth tones. Romantic anthurium
patterned bedspreads bring back the feel of “Old Hawaii.” “The
homes of old Hawaii incorporate elements of the islands’ natural
surroundings into their decor and furnishings,” explained Kanemori.
“Patterns were inspired by the flowers and foliage found in your
backyard. Colors were taken from nature’s palate. All of these
elements and more have been incorporated into the redesign of the
OHANA East.”
For entertainment, each guest room now features a new 25-inch
television with expanded cable service. Island art decorates the
walls in hall corridors and guest rooms. And a carved hibiscus
blossom adorns each guest room door, offering an island welcome as
guests enter their rooms.
Beyond the guest rooms, the hotel pool and Jacuzzi have been
completely retiled, and vibrant yellow hibiscus blossoms now
decorate the bottom of the pool. The pool deck has been resurfaced
and furnished with new furniture. In addition to the new decor,
guests staying at this full service property enjoy OHANA Hotels’
special brand of island hospitality plus a variety of services and
amenities. Ninety percent of the guest rooms are non-smoking. OHANA
East also features three restaurants, a coffee bar, 24-hour
self-service business center, 24-hour self-service laundry and a
video arcade. The hotel also offers three moderately sized meeting
rooms.
Centrally located at the corner of Kuhio and Kaiulani Avenues,
the OHANA East is just a short stroll to Waikiki Beach, the
International Marketplace and Kalakaua Avenue. The Honolulu Zoo,
Kapiolani Park and the Honolulu Aquarium are just a 20-minute walk
away. Because of its location and amenities, the OHANA East Hotel
is popular with families and business travelers alike. “We offer
great rates and the product is practically brand new now. Our staff
knows what island hospitality is all about and you really can’t
beat the hotel’s location,” Kanemori pointed out.
Value rates of $109 per night are available throughout the year,
depending on availability. Nightly published rates are from $199
for a standard guest room, from $209 for kitchenette accommodations
and from $299 for a one-bedroom suite.
