Most agents are very familiar with St. Lucia’s The Jalousie Plantation. The resort has completed a three-year, multimillion dollar renovation and transformation that has also resulted in a new name. By Nov. 30, it is slated to become Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort.
According to Jalousie’s owner, Roger Myers, the decision to become a Viceroy Resort was a logical step that will bring enhanced benefits to the property as it puts the final touches to its expansive renovation project, which cost upwards of $100 million.
“With this completion, it makes perfect sense for The Jalousie Plantation to be officially branded and named Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort, capitalizing on the excellent reputation of the Viceroy Hotel Group within the luxury hotel market and bolstering the group’s efforts to focus on the expansion of the Viceroy brand,” said Myers.
The three-year project includes 59 new Luxury Villas and eight new Luxury Beachfront Bungalows. In addition, 11 Luxury Sugar Mill Rooms have been completely revamped. The 9,427-square-foot Rainforest Spa has opened, featuring a range of international luxury product lines and locally inspired signature treatments, seven tree house treatment cabanas and a temazcal heat experience. The resort has also seen the opening of several new restaurants and bars: The Great Room for elegant dining and Caribbean-inspired fare; Bayside Bar and Restaurant for relaxed dining; The Cane Bar and Late Night Bar, complete with a rummelier; The Palm Court with views of the Caribbean Sea and gardens of Sugar Beach; and The Terrace, a breakfast restaurant with views across the lily pond and sugar mill ruins, scheduled to open in December.
In addition, the resort has a new contemporary design swimming pool, lobby and reception area, a Kids Club featuring murals by British children’s book illustrator Lucy Loveheart, a Cybernook with desktop computers and printers to keep guests connected and private garden cabanas for day use and evening dining. In December, a boutique offering high quality linens, branded clothing and gift items will open as well.
The resort’s updated PADI dive facility features new dive classes, snorkeling excursions and snuba, a cross between snorkeling and scuba.

Winter season rates start at $640 per night, room only, based on double occupancy and excluding VAT and service charge.
