When The Royal Hawaiian opened in 1927, its unprecedented level of Hawaiian hospitality drew high-profile guests. Nearly 90 years later, the resort — nicknamed the Pink Palace of the Pacific — continues to lure top-tier travelers with its Royal Experience program, available to visitors who book one of its top-of-the-line suites.
Cori Hara, the hotel’s guest experience director, described the Royal’s clients as “global travelers with discerning tastes.”
“With the Royal Experience, we hope to provide them with the utmost luxury while perpetuating Hawaiian culture to the fullest,” said Hara.
Designed to highlight the hotel’s trademark service, location and history, the package begins with tailored pre-arrival arrangements, limousine or sedan airport transfers, a welcome escort and a personal concierge throughout the stay.
The program’s long list of in-suite amenities includes tropical flowers, monogrammed robes and a customized in-room bar as well as assistance with packing and unpacking, pressing and shoe shine services. Each morning, breakfast is delivered to the room with French press coffee and tea. In the evening, guests are treated to a chef’s creative turndown amenity.
Royal Experience clients also receive star status at the general manager’s private cocktail reception and VIP seats at the resort’s Aha Aina luau. The cultural services director guides them on a personal hotel tour. The hotel’s legendary Beach Boys entertain them with activities such as surfing, sailing, canoe riding, stand-up paddleboarding or simply talking story about the lavish past and present of The Royal Hawaiian.
