Hilton’s first lifestyle hotel in New York City — and the brand’s first newbuild hotel in the portfolio — opened in the Chelsea neighborhood on Jan. 12. If clients are looking for a sleek Manhattan hotel with a neighborhood vibe that’s also away from crowded touristy areas, Hilton’s latest Motto property is worth a look.
The Motto by Hilton New York City Chelsea is a newbuild right at home in the Chelsea Arts District. The brand’s first NYC hotel is within walking distance to Chelsea Market, The High Line, the Flatiron Building and Madison Square Park, and near the F, M and 1 subway lines.
Along with the reception, the ground floor contains Bar Cicchetti, a full-service contemporary restaurant and craft bar by restaurateur and “Top Chef” contestant Fabio Viviani. Seasonal lunch and dinner menus include stand-out menu items including roasted whole chicken with corn stuffing, Mediterranean lobster ravioli and a 24-hour braised octopus with fava beans. In the morning, guests can also get beverages, pastries and breakfast orders from a coffee bar and sit across at a bar table or barrel chairs.
The second floor of this 42-floor hotel is a spacious common area that can double as a gathering spot and a meeting space. One side has a board table, while the other has a cocktail bar; a conversation pit is in the middle. An outdoor terrace will also be a hangout venue with F&B offerings.
The 42-floor Motto by Hilton New York City Chelsea has 374 guestrooms.

MitchellAmid 374 guestrooms with unobstructed city views, Motto Chelsea has flexibility with sleeping arrangements for families or large groups through Confirmed Connecting Rooms by Hilton technology. Nineteen sets of connecting rooms enable guests to book up to three of them together. Setups include a king bunkie (bunk bed), a king flex bed that stows into the wall, a king bed and double bunkies with four twin beds in one room. Room numbers are displayed on the floor, which is lit up, as well as on the wall near the door. A fitness center has a high-tech workout equipment through a partnership with Hydrow, plus traditional exercise equipment.
As a nod to its West 24th Street address, the decor draws upon the number in various ways. Gold and metallic fixtures play on chromium, the 24th element in the periodic table, and 24-karat gold. Across from a jewel-toned, stained glass front desk, an eye-catching ceiling installation resembles a kaleidoscope with multicolored spherical lamps.
