The quest for securing a unique travel keepsake just got a lot easier. Stylist to the stars Anita Patrickson has partnered with Auberge Resorts Collection to offer unique versions of her made-to-order sandals to fashionistas on holiday. Patrickson’s eco-friendly brand — called Amanu — now has outposts at Esperanza and Chileno Bay Resorts & Residences in Los Cabos, Mexico. Amanu-trained artisans will assist guests during a personal 45-minute sandal design session featuring different sandal styles and a choice of vegetable-dyed leathers that complement the essence of the hotel.
Having gone through the process, I can confirm that it’s quite fun to dream up an ideal sandal, and then watch as a highly skilled designer makes magic around your foot. I also love that these built-to-last sandals are sustainable — using nails instead of glue, and made and cut to order (which minimizes waste). Currently, the only other location to get these sandals — worn by fans such as actress Salma Hayek and dancer Julianne Hough — is the flagship store in Los Angeles. The experiential shopping experience will launch in Mauna Lani in Hawaii and Malliouhana in Anguilla in spring 2020.
