Disney Clamps Down on ‘Brand Integrity’

Sep 06, 2002
Walt Disney Parks and Resorts took an Illinois travel agent to task for stating on her business card that she’s a Disney specialist, according to a Travel Weekly report.

Disney also forced Lynn Sullivan to remove Disney characters from a mural in her agency. Sullivan, who completed the specialist course and works for Travel With Ease in Oswego, said she has complied with Disney’s directive.

For its part, Disney said it might revise its College of Disney Knowledge handbook to make it more clear to agents about when they can and cannot make their specialist affiliation with the company known.

According to Disney, it’s a matter of “brand integrity.”
