Fairmont Hotels & Resorts recently made a number of personnel announcements, including the appointment of Dan McGowan, the new general manager at The Fairmont Palliser in Calgary, Alberta. Since joining Fairmont in 1992 at The Fairmont Chateau Whistler, McGowan has held several progressive positions, including conference services manager, revenue manager, director of rooms and, most recently, general manager of The Fairmont Vancouver Airport.
Michael Pye has taken on the role of general manager at The Fairmont Winnipeg in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Most recently, Pye served as the director of operations at The Fairmont Southampton in Bermuda.
Other personnel announcements include the appointment of Rita Healy, who will assume the position of hotel manager at The Fairmont Southampton. The Fairmont Mayakoba in the Riviera Maya, Mexico, has appointed Richard Silvester to the role of executive chef. Jerry Moynihan, who is new to Fairmont, has been appointed director of engineering at Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Scottsdale, Ariz. An Verbeeck has been named director, sales & marketing, at Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows near San Diego, Calif., and Shahab Abbas returns to Fairmont as director, global accounts.
