Amawaterways is including a major cultural and horticultural festival on several itineraries this spring and summer as the Koblenz National Flower Show opens from April 15 to Oct. 16, 2011.
Situated along the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Upper Middle Rhine Valley, Koblenz, Germany’s narrow lanes, busy squares and impressive historic buildings reflect its 2,000-year-old history which extends back to Roman times.
The nearly 120 acres devoted to the Flower Show will take place right in the center of town, with areas around the Electoral Palace redesigned and on the other aside of the Rhine the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress area turned into a landscaped park, connected by a cable car.
In addition to flowering carpets of seasonal blossoms in flower halls and outdoor exhibit sites, visitors can stroll along a riverside promenade beside the Rhine and Mosel. The Flower Show will also include more than 3,000 cultural highlights and events from symphony concerts to street art, theater, seminars, children’s programs and themed evenings.
The festival will be an included excursion on selected dates for several itineraries in 2011: the 12-day Vineyards of the Rhine and Mosel, which includes a seven-night cruise between Amsterdam and Luxembourg and three nights in Paris; the 14-day Europe’s Rivers and Castles, with three nights in Paris, two in Prague and a seven-day cruise between Trier and Nuremberg; the 13-day Enchanting Rhine, which combines a seven-night cruise between Amsterdam and Basel with two nights each in Lucerne and Zurich; and the 16-day Magnificent Europe, sailing between Amsterdam and Budapest.
From now through Jan. 5, Amawaterways is offering Triple Savings on the April 28 U.S. departure of the Vineyards of the Rhine and Mosel, which includes the Flower Show. The offer includes $500 savings per stateroom, a complimentary one category upgrade (excluding A+ staterooms and junior suites), along with a $100 a shipboard credit.
