Aqua Expeditions, a luxury river cruise operator in the Peruvian Amazon, has joined the newly renamed Cruise Lines International Association Australasia (CLIA).
Aqua Expeditions launched its first vessel, the Aqua Amazon, on the Peruvian Amazon in 2008 and, three years later, introduced the Aria Amazon. The company, now based in Singapore, is building on the growing interest among travelers in small-ship cruising and will launch a third 20-suite cruise ship next year, the Aqua Mekong, cruising the Mekong River in Cambodia and Vietnam. According to CLIA Australasia, river cruising has seen a growth of 22 percent from the local market between 2010 and 2011.
“We are excited to be a part of CLIA," said Aqua Expeditions CEO Francesco Galli Zugaro, “especially as interest in river cruising surges, and we expand into the Asian market.”
Currently, the company offers itineraries on the Amazon that are three, four and seven nights, priced from $2,835; single supplement is 25 percent.
